A wh-question is a question built around an interrogative word such as who or what that signals the specific information being asked for, in contrast to a yes/no question. In some languages these words move to the front of the sentence, while in wh-in-situ languages they remain in their original position and are interpreted through their relation to the sentence as a whole.
