envy Envy is the feeling stirred when another person is seen enjoying something that one would want for oneself.

Envy is the feeling stirred when another person is seen enjoying something that one would want for oneself. In this historical account, it differs from jealousy because envy centers on the fortunate person alone, without the added sense that a valued relationship has been taken from oneself.
