A Duchenne smile is an apparently genuine smile marked by the combined activation of the cheek-lifting zygomaticus major muscle and the eye-area orbicularis oculi muscle. In this source, it is contrasted with a weaker non-Duchenne smile, which shows less or no involvement of the eye-area muscle.
