accessory nerve The accessory nerve is the 11th cranial nerve.

The accessory nerve is the 11th cranial nerve. It arises from neurons in the medulla and cervical spinal cord, with one part joining the vagus nerve to supply motor fibers to the larynx and another part supplying motor fibers to the trapezius and sternocleidomastoid muscles.
